Happy Independence Day,Nigeria

Today marks the 54th year of our independence. We've
been through a lot. We fought a few battles;
Homosexuality,Ebola Virus, Boko haram, and won.
Nigeria is infamous for corruption. Corruption is
personified in Nigeria. In as much as we'd love to blame
our leaders, it's very important to note that our leaders
are a product of their environment. They were once
masses, like us. Corruption is already a way of life,
therefore, we cannot blame our leaders for it. We can
only hold them accountable for their actions. We can
only hold them accountable for being unable to lead with
high moral standards which are expected of leaders.
I love Nigeria. I'm a proud Nigerian. This isn't lip
service. This is How I feel about a country that has been
blessed and endowed with Natural, Human, Economic
and Geographical resources.
But are we truly independent?
Being independent isn't about being free of/from colonial
masters. It's not about being able to boast of our own
National Anthem,Flag,Currency, Constitution Or even
indigenous leadership.
It's about being there for each other, cause in our
dependency,we can build an independent state.
It's about togetherness. Brotherhood or sisterhood, whic
hever it might be.
It's about standing together as a nation to fight, same
way we fought homosexuality.
Religious discrimination needs to stop!
We need to put an end to Segregation and even ethnic
differences.
We need to put an end to party politics, which make us
vote the wrong people every darn time.
Be your brothers keeper. Be your sisters keeper. Show
love to one another.
And remember, what makes us human isn't the blood or
the organs that make up our anatomy. It's the love and
sympathy we feel towards our neighbor. That's our
human signature. It differentiates us from wild, savage
beasts.
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.
